God, I've Got The Urge To Go Shopping
the bumper autumn shopping post! with some really good things I've seen and want/need/dream about
It’s been a while since I’ve added anything new to my wardrobe and I’ll be honest- I have THE ITCH. Sadly not the itch from a new vintage woollen sixties car coat scoured from the depths of Vinted at a slashed price that makes you feel like you’ve found gold, but the itch to break the seal. Hit the shops! Feel a rush of a 5-7 working days checkout option and going express for the absolute thrill of it! The rush of stumbling across the perfectly cut pair of cords which will fill the hole in your wardrobe, opening up outfit options and re-injecting a true breath of fresh air into things you love but haven’t worn for a while; oh it’s a sweet feeling.
There have been a myriad of reasons (being ‘sensible’ always being the overarching and very, very unexciting one) and also the lack of time to often really explore what’s new, try things on and even work out where the gaps lie in my wardrobe. I typically end up buying the same things again and again, and worry that if my wardrobe sees another cream blouse with a collar that would have a Victorian nanny clicking express delivery too, then it’s game over for this girl.
Plus, it’s that time of year. The time where the new collections land.
I always love the word collections in this context because to my funny little literal brain it makes me think I NEED TO COLLECT IT ALL. I must do a deep clothes acquisition here, and in this sense, these are all the things from the collections I need. But, unaffordable literal thinking to one side; one thing I try and do when browsing these new collections are look at the styling for inspiration on the items I’m attracted to. “Do I like the piece or the way it’s been put together? Are the colours jumping out at me? Is it the textures or an interesting detail?” This is something I do try and keep in mind when the heady rush takes over, and always find picking apart the excitement a little takes the heat off a little (or sends me to my wardrobe for a burst of inspiration, which is always a good thing)!
Anyway, this is basically a big overspilling mental note of all the things I’ve seen, the collections that are built up of some true diamonds or items currently out of my budget but I would very much like to remember. Sometimes, after a fruitful Vinted sale this is where I shall return to for those reminders (even though I feel like there are some cords and blouses that are now etched into my brain forever)…

Me + Em a.k.a a ‘70s ballerina heaven
I’ll be honest, whilst also being calm and balanced here- but I am losing my mind over their new collection. Me + Em have fallen into what feels like Bianca Jagger’s imagination in the ‘70s and created a collection which is nothing short of heaven. It’s an Alessandro Gucci tulle geek-chic dream and it’s all heavenly. I’ll be frank and say from late August until mid March my appetite for cord is truly ravenous and anywhere that can merge tulle, knits, velvet and cord together so seamlessly has my heart. I am obsessed with the chocolate brown velvet and and conker toned cord suit and would gladly do everything from soft play, tumble dryer cleans and late night co-op panic shops in this, if it mean I could be a Me + Em woman all autumn.
