I fear there are few white blouses in my time that I have not fallen in love with. God, I love a good white blouse. Give me delicate lace inserts, Pierrot collars, smocking and traditional embroidery! Give me a sailor collar, tiered ruffles or starchy whites- I’ll truly take it all! And despite having never been someone who subscribes to having a recipe of steadfast wardrobe staples, I always seem to have a thriving collection of creamy cotton, ruffles and floaty whites sitting in my wardrobe- they are undoubtedly the item I have the most of. If some women are magpies to shiny things and sparkles; I am a magpie to 100% cotton and broderie anglaise- can I be blamed?!

To me, a great blouse is the Bellingham of football (see! I can be up to date)! The McCartney of music! The item most worthy of a Hollywood handshake! They are the glue that holds my wardrobe together. Supports many of my most successful and ‘me’ outfits and something I am often asked about on my Sunday shopping round ups. The best partners for white skirts, breastfeeding, layering over swimwear or tucking into your favourite trousers- and so, upon realising I am actually short of sleeveless numbers that accommodate a seemingly never ending heatwave, I thought I’d share the crème de la crème of what is currently out there- from high street to vintage and with a special little discount thrown in too…

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s a pinafore blouse which looks just as gorgeous alone as it does as a layering piece over shirts in the cooler months too.

Some things never go out of fashion, and this little white blouse with Schiffli embroidery is 10/10.

I have shared this blouse no less than about 10 times this summer and I stand by it being one of the best I have seen- shes’s a beauty!

I feel like this had to be included- I know I’ve mentioned it before but the literal part of my brain said ‘if you’re doing an ultimate edit- surely the ultimate blouse has to be in there?!’ Perhaps it’s more of a jacket, but LOOK.
