The Bumper Festive Dress Edit
"You have enough in your wardrobe!!!" My sensible and clear visioned boyfriend repeats as I sit with 30 tabs open. But the frills! The frippery! How can I resist!
Oh December! We are days away from the official start of winter (…haven’t we been here for months?) and in the heady throes of tiny food on big plates season. Hosting duties creep ever closer and the will-we-won’t-we New Year’s Eve conversation is bubbling like a chilled bottle of something or other waiting to be bought out of the fridge (just like the panic order of the Traitors game ordered from Amazon. Ahem).
It’s also winter wedding season! My new favourite time for a wedding apparently?! Having been to two this year I am a fully blown WW convert. Will we get Yorkshire pudding canapes??? WE HAVE TO HOPE. There's also a very good chance you can have a dance to All I Want For Christmas like you're in Love Actually. You can wear tights and throw ‘Snowfetti’!! (Something I experienced a couple of weekends ago and highly rated) and it’s all bloody glorious. Christmas trees and marital bliss are two things I highly think should go hand in hand.
And that’s without starting me on the dresses! Is there any greater excuse to scroll longingly through every tab you’ve had open since October and decide if now is the time? Who knows! Either way, because I very much am that woman who is in a last minute panic of whether she needs a new Christmas Day/New Year’s Eve dress (the answer I fear, will end on a no) we can still have fun looking! I thought I’d share the best I came across in my giddy searches, in case you too are in the same festive frock coveting boat…
This is the kind of dress that truly shouts ‘THIS is what I’m doing new years eve!’ Just wearing this. Nothing else. No Traitors games. No Hoootenanny. Just wearing this and feeling unbelievable. Thank you very much.
Heartbreakingly elegant! Is she a principal ballerina or just hosting Christmas? We’ll never be able to tell!
I’ve been imagining this dress with a top knot and red lip and burgundy ballet flats and so naturally, it’s all I’ve been thinking about.
