The Cool Girls Christmas Playlist
I'm joking- what is cool anyway!! But cool girls love Christmas songs, right?

Alongside musicals (Les Mis, Wicked, Grease, Cabaret, Mamma Mia- the list goes ON dear friends), football songs (Three Lions, Vindaloo… only half joking, Freed From Desire) and landfill indie (please, please, don’t start me)- Christmas songs are one of my favourite music genres- and yes, I’m firmly placing them in the genres category. It’s a whole area of music dedicated to joy, love, stories of unrealistic weather conditions and traffic jams being romanticised- all punctuated with saxophones and sleigh bells and I’m not sure it gets much better.
I yearn for the last minutes of the 30th of November where I can socially acceptably scroll down to my Christmas playlist on Spotify, listening again for the first time in twelve months; where the first chimes of All Alone on Christmas pulse through me like the kind of sparkly electric energy you get after accidentally touching hands with someone on a first date- MAGIC. Every year, rediscovering certain songs feel like finding a favourite dress at the back of your wardrobe and going OH MY GOD HOW GOOD IS THIS!! Which is truly why I don’t mind the wait.
